An Unforgettable Experience
Working at Spoonfed means you get to do a lot of fun things, but I doubt there’s much that could top the day Tom and I had on the Smartbox Unforgettable Experiences Hunt last week! Our team were chauffered around London like contestants on the Apprentice (or a particularly glitzy version of Challenge Anneka) solving clues and completing a range of hilarious tasks.
Here’s how we did.
Task One: Golfing on Tower 42
This was always going to be a tricky one – battling the wind and rain to compete for who can hit a ball the furthest on top of London’s tallest tower. I’m terrible at golf and two other members of our team had never even touched a club before. Luckily for us, sport supremo Tom was on hand to notch up an impressive 115 yards which easily eclipsed my best effort of 72. Despite the lingering rain, the view was quite spectacular and it was a good effort all round.
Verdict: A moderate success

Task Two: Record a Christmas Song
Recording your own song in a studio might be a dream for some people but for Team Geek Chic (as we were forcibly known) it was an absolute nightmare. John and Edward have nothing on us! Their pitiful warblings easily outshone our attempt at Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ After several failed attempts to nail the first two lines we had to resort to a Paxman-style spoken word introduction. We felt pretty sorry for the team at Pod Music – it was painful to hear!
Verdict: Epic fail

Task Three: Design a Signature Fragrance
With expert sniffer Gemma Thompson on our team we thought we couldn’t lose on this task. However the professional perfumers seemed less than impressed with our best effort – TrannyTastic – a scent ’for woman you wish you were’. To be perfectly honest it smelt awful – but we think we got a few points for originality.
Verdict: A phenomenal success for the development of transgender cosmetics.
Task Four: A mixology class
I was pretty confident about getting a clean sweep on this one – since the Spoonfed team are well versed in the cocktail world – but actually making a tasty one of these is a lot harder than it looks! I was quite pleased with my attempt at the perfect Cosmopolitan but our efforts at a Mojitio tasted a bit like sugary mint water and I don’t think our attempts at bribery worked either.
Verdict: A moderate success
So, the overall verdict is that was did pretty poorly. The brilliant Who’s Jack team stole our thunder by nabbing last place so we came a disappointing fifth. Despite our abysmal performance it was a lot of fun and like my mum said every time I came in last for the egg and spoon race – it’s the taking part that counts.
