Pop-Up Grok

Submitted by Tom on Monday, 16 February 20093 Comments

What? Grok. Grok? What the hell is that? Well, according to the OED (via Wikipedia) to grok  means: “to to understand intuitively or by empathy; to establish rapport with” and “to empathize or communicate sympathetically (with); also, to experience enjoyment.”

This is all very well, but of more interest to us is the fact that Grok Institute is also a new creative collective and they’re doing a load of pop-up events and exhibitions in and around Carnaby starting this Thursday.

We’re not entirely sure what exactly is going on, but hey that’s part of the fun! What we do know is that there’ll be arty things, fashion things and some cracking music and it’ll last for a couple of weeks. Sounds ace!

Nice to see the word is spreading!

Our launch takes place on Thursday Feb 19th ( rsvp@grokinstitute.com if you’d like to get onto the guestlist ) and runs till March 6th.

Not an opening, a gathering or a clubnight; grok is a mix of all of the above and sitting somewhere in between.

We have 5 spaces around carnaby st that we’re installing new digital/light/video work into.

We’ve also got an afterparty on Thurday at No. 5 Cavendish Square
